Top 10+ easy Red Hot Mama jumpstarts

  1. Clear the physical clutter (closets, counters, garage, car)
  2. Clear your mental clutter of any beliefs that no longer serve you. Thank them and let them go!
  3. Question all your beliefs, habits, thought patterns. Are they yours, or did you accumulate them from someone else? Are you still being run by beliefs you adopted when you were a child, teenager, newlywed?
  4. Apply a habit of “Sift & Sort” to everything: ideas, beliefs, habits, even the people you’re around. Keep what helps you and clear out the rest!
  5. Define what you want your life to be in 2008 and beyond. Design and create your life like the bold, outrageous creator you are. (You can say good-by forever to living the life someone else expects you to live.)
  6. Now take the picture/list you got in step 5 and make it even bigger, bolder, more outrageous. What would you do if you had no fears? What would you create if you had no excuses? What would your life be if you could magically create it to fit your wildest dreams?
  7. Now put energy into your vision by using all your senses and feeling yourself having attained all this.
  8. Be grateful for what is in your life right now. Enjoy what you think is good and thank the rest for the lessons you have learned.
  9. Get a partner, Mastermind partner, team of people who support you in your vision of a better life.
  10. Make a daily practice of visualizing, savoring, gratitudes, listing successes, and action.
  11. List your successes every day! (Yes, give yourself credit for all you accomplish, even if you’re only taking baby steps toward your goal.)
  12. Do something good for someone else. Be part of something bigger than yourself.

And above all, have FUN with this list! Print it out so you’ll be reminded and stay on track. Share it with a friend.

The Secret to Cultivating Joy

This is so easy and so cool!

Yesterday I was surprised to see delicious things I’d never noticed before as I walked back from the beach on the same old street.

I had been looking for and naming abundances: sand, water, ozone (the invigorating beach kind) and fresh air, birds, smiles, beach lilies, getting up close to a little rabbit holding breakfast grass in its mouth. So I was feeling pretty good as I headed home.

Then I saw, really saw, things along the street I’d never seen before. Isn’t it fun to quit being oblivious and start noticing?!!

The bubbling happiness of noticing abundance stayed with me all morning.

And I realized how much this habit of gratitude has sustained me. Many times, even on the most difficult days, happiness would bubble up inside me at unexpected times.

Are you ever surprised by moments of Joy like that? Just walking across the room or out to get the paper and suddenly it’s there - Effervescent Bubbles of Joy. What I’ve discovered is that the more I am grateful and aware of the abundances in my life, the more Joy is there when I least expect it.

Like the Law of Attraction says, you get more of what you focus on. But the bonus is, it’s there to sustain you when you aren’t even focusing on it!

You can change your life with this simple technique. Get a little journal and start recording all the abundances you are blessed with every day. Really notice it, even tiny little things you’ve been taking for granted, like time on the parking meter, finding a penny (that’s found money!), a friend treating you to coffee, etc. Feel it in every cell of your body.

As you focus on the abundance in your life, you will uncork the champagne of your life and bubbles of joy will effervesce through all of your life.

Taking Up Dancing!

I talked with my friend Gwen a couple of days ago. We’ve been taking belly dancing classes together, but she couldn’t come to the last class because she’s getting ready for a ballroom dance competition.

She confessed she was a little apprehensive about the dance competition. She’s never done a solo dance like this before. Gwen is a charming petite blond with beautiful blue eyes who kisses waiters’ hand and tells them how wonderful they are. I imagine she’ll be just as charming on the dance floor!

Gwen recently read about a book that asked what you’d do if you had one year to live. She decided she wanted to ballroom dance, and for a lot more than just one year! She said,

“Life is about stretching from where you are to where you want to go.”

She also commented:

“Life gets changed around a lot, doesn’t it?”

I guess she knows! In the last few years she moved across the state when her home was damaged in a hurricane, started a new life here, just moved into her new home, is taking dance classes and performing, and just started going out with a new “friend”.

80 and Dancing!

Way to go, Gwen! You are one Red Hot Mama!

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to travel Route 66?

This is on my list of 101 Goals, so when I heard my friend Pat Behnke
was taking the trip this summer, I had to interview her for my podcast,
Off The Beaten Path.

And so I invite you to travel along with baby boomers Patricia Behnke
and Joy Glanzer as they share their thoughts and experiences of their
trip this summer. They’ll fill you in on:

· the highlights along the way
· Joy’s special send-off for her father (This gives an added dimension to a multi-generational trip!)
· traveling with their daughters
· why you might want to plan your next trip (They’re thinking A1A from Florida to Maine and then Africa.)
· their magic, life changing experiences
· and more

As Joy says:

“Everybody needs to do this. You just need to take off and get away from your life for awhile.”

When you do, magic happens!

So join us for a half hour of magic.
And then start planning your next trip to
wherever your heart calls you. I know I’m adding
Route 66 to my list of 101 Goals (and The Amazon, Tuscany, rafting through the Grand Canyon, hang gliding in the Outer Banks…)

Where do you want to go? Leave a comment below.

How to Reclaim and Empassion Your Dream

Let me ask you and important question:
Are you living your Dream? Or, like many women, did you put your Dreams on hold until you raised a family, built a career (that may not have been satisfying), supported your spouse, volunteered at school and church and in your community?

It makes me sad to see clients who have forgotten their Dreams or who have shoved them so deep that they have forgotten they ever had Dreams.

If you are hungry to live your Dreams in bigger and better ways, here are 3 easy steps to get you going:

1. Spend some quiet time listening to your hears and ask what is important to you: what you want to be and what you want to do.
2. Do you have trouble getting quiet enough to listen? Then look for clues. They are there!
It amazed me, looking back, to see there were clues to my passion and Dreams all along.
Ever since I was little, I’ve been bothered by unfairness and injustice. It bothered me to see women being treated unequally. It doesn’t make any sense to me!
So:
Clue #1: What bothers you that you would like to see changed?
Clue #2: What do you love doing? What makes you feel alive, fully engaged and passionate to do or to talk about? (I love encouraging and inspiring others and helping them claim and appreciate their creativity and uniqueness!) What do you love to do in your spare time?
3. What lifestyle do you want to live? Whether you are very satisfied and comfortable or you are nowhere near where you thought you would be by now, you have to admit: as long as you are alive, you want more. To be more, to have more, to do more. And, these are often not materialistic things, but inner things.

As you ask yourself these questions, you will get powerful clues that will empower your Dreams and make your life more exciting and rewarding!

Happy Dreaming! You are awesome!

Are You Living Your Red Hot Bold Outrageous Brilliance?

I recently heard a speaker talk about how many people are “walking asleep”. It reminded me of Marianne Williamson’s famous quote is about being afraid of our own brilliance:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

I think it has been especially hard for so many women to honor their light and not to worry about outshining someone else.

Here are some thoughts on how you can let your brilliance shine:

1. Accept it. Accept your greatness. Accept that you are unique, with a special talent and greatness. Name your brilliance.

As women, we have often dimmed our light, afraid to outshine someone else. But it’s not really about outshining or appearing “better than” someone else. It’s about being real and authentic and trusting that. As we allow our brilliance to shine, other people are encouraged to allow their brilliance to shine, too.

Years ago I had a dream about streetlights and how repairing them was my calling. And then I realized that streetlights do not shine alone. They are connected in networks of light. That is what happens when we let our own light shine. It ripples out and lights other lights until the whole network is brilliantly lit.

Who, if you were to allow your brilliance to shine fully, would you be lighting the path for?

2. Love it.

Remember how as a little girl you had little treasures you loved and they made you feel warm and happy inside? What if you loved the treasure that is you the same way?

You know how easy it is to fall in love with other people? (Well, some of them, anyway!). What if you loved yourself and appreciated yourself the same way? What if you embraced and cherished your gifts as the treasures they really are?

3. Play with it. Paint your life with it. You are the artist!

If you are like me, you may have had trouble setting boundaries in the past. Or you may have been afraid that you would be criticised for what you really wanted to do. And so, sometimes you got burned out or wanted to hold back.

But now there’s a better way. You are the artist, and you can play only with things you want to say YES! to.

What fun things could you do with the gifts you have been given? How do you choose to play with your brilliance?

Are you Dreaming outrageously enough?

Do you ever get writer’s block? You know, you have all these beautiful, creative, juicy ideas in your mind and as soon as you pick up your pen, they all dry up and your mind goes blank.

Have you ever noticed that some people seem to have Dreamer’s block?

Sometimes those creative, delightful, inspiring, juicy, exhilarating Dreams of youth dry up in the face of life’s obligations and “have to’s”.

And so we’ve spent too many years trying to force our big, bold, beautiful rainbow-colored Dreams into tiny, hard, drab boxes of practicality. Sometimes we forget that what the world needs is more rainbows, more greatness, more boldness and enthusiasm and Red Hot passion and laughter… and fewer (far, far fewer) little tiny dark boxes.

Those Dreams are still there! Sure, you’ve reached some already, or are well on your way. But do you have some that are still buried - buried so deep you’ve almost forgotten them? Maybe you stuck them back on the shelf, waiting for a better time.

Well, now is the time to pull them out, or maybe it’s time for NEW bold & exciting Dreams. It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, what gender or national origin. What matters is that you honor your Dreams and fan them with the flames of passion & faith.

One of my favorite stories is of a woman who, after hearing Wally “Famous Amos” speak, commented that, “If I go to law school at my age, I will be 55 when I graduate.” To which he replied, “How old will you be if you don’t go?”

On the other hand, I’ve heard of women who went to college in their 70’s and 80’s. Way to go, Red Hot Mamas!

We live in a world of tremendous possibilities. And, with the internet, it is possible to build a Dream Team with like-minded people all around the world. Love and support are there for the asking.

And so I ask you, what is your Bold Outrageous Dream? Is it big and bold and juicy enough to inspire you for the next 50 years?

Dream Big! Dream Bold! Dream Red Hot Dreams! And may all your Dreams come true, or something even better.
